Each time we go on vacation, Millie has to be left to a relative who will watch, feed and take care of her while we are away. I do feel guilty leaving her behind but we cannot take her to our long trips abroad because it is just not practical.
I think, Millie knows when we are going for a long vacation. Every time we pack our luggages, she will watch intently, gazing on the clothes we are putting in the luggages and she will sniff like crazy. I know and feel that she will be left again to the care of someone not her “mommy and daddy.”
I am sorry to do that but we need to go on our family trips too. If there are no regulations about taking pets to long haul flights without being subjected to quarantine policies, I will definitely take her with me in a heart beat.
So, when we came back from leave, our little “diva dog” was whimpering and sounded hoarse when she greeted us. I can feel the love and longing that she had bottled up for 10 days. She jumped and hugged our legs and even slept next to us, as if to make sure that we will not leave her again or at least, not soon.
We’ve been to Manhattan several times already but it still has that charm and appeal every time we visit. This time, my mom-in-law is with us so it was nice visiting Times Square with her as she was not able to visit Manhattan thoroughly the first time she visited New York City around 7 years ago.
Walking around in the cold NY spring weather is really a challenge. I keep taking tab of my mom-in-law who is still strong and mighty for a 74-year old woman. She can keep up the pace like any young adults but we need to take into consideration that it is really difficult to walk around the cold, biting and even freezing weather.
Tomorrow, I hope the weather will be accommodating as we plan to visit the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. We are looking forward to see the beautiful plants and blooms of spring.
We will be travelling to NYC this end of March for our spring break. I am still excited like a giddy goat because I love NYC. It’s one of my favorite cities in the world. Aside from that, my daughter has not seen the cherry blossoms in bloom yet so it will be nice to take her to Brooklyn Botanical Garden or in Central Park to see the beautiful flowers. Also, my mom-in-law will be coming with us so we will be taking her around Manhattan.
What is exciting about this spring break is our side trip to Niagara Falls (US side). We will be staying there for 2 nights to enjoy the scenery and nearby outlet malls. So, our itinerary is quite tight and I will need more SD cards for pictures and some spare batteries for the camera. I will buy aaa rechargeable batteries here before we leave so I don’t miss out taking picture of the beautiful flowers and nature in spring time. I also hope the weather disturbance in East Coast clears up soon or else, I am not sure if the flowers will even be in bloom by the time we get there.
Good things never really last like our just concluded vacation. My daughter and I had so much fun and I wish it was tad longer. The 5 days spent in Singapore was eventful with showers here and there and then hot and humid afterwards. However, all in all, it is a nice vacation.
I am very surprised and in awe by the beautiful Resorts World Sentosa. We stayed at
Hard Rock Hotel which is inside the resort so going to the Universal Studios was a breeze, only if it didn’t rain! We walked around Universal Studios in rain coats and my SD card in the camera got wet so half of the pictures taken in Universal Studios were gone. Too bad.
Few days after, we moved to Landmark Village Hotel. It wasn’t as fancy as Hard Rock Hotel but it was close to the
Bugis Metro Station and a lot of eateries and malls.
We also visited the Gardens By The Bay which was newly opened last 29 June 2012. It is a haven for nature lover because it has 2 big conservatories filled with flowers and tropical plants. The other parts of the Garden is open to the public from 5 in the morning until 2 in the morning the next day. This is a must-see attraction and I will guarantee you that it is worth the time.
Another thing that got my attention is the major infrastructure around the bay area like the new steel buildings around the Marina. The Marina Bay Sands Hotel is breath-taking and very imposing. It stands facing the bay and has a beautiful infinity pool on top of the hotel. Another must-see place in Singapore!
A Lot has changed in Singapore since the last time we were there and it was only 4 years ago. It is more greener and beautiful with the addition of the attractions surrounding the bay area. I didn’t fancy Singapore then but I guess, it is starting to grow in me. We may be back soon for all you know.
My daughter is going to Musandam in Oman with her classmates and friends from school on Friday. Musandam is a fishing village in Dibba, Oman. The trip is arranged by the school so we allowed her to go. It will be an exciting experience for her to travel out of the country for the first time without us. I am a bit worried because this is a first but since it is a school activity. I think it’s all right to allow her.
The itinerary includes traditional dhow cruise near the Golden Tulip Beach Resort where they will stay over night. Food is included in the package. The school has included fun activities with bon fire along the beach shore to enjoy nature. I am glad that for once, I can pry her from the computer and she does not have to bring any gaming console and video game software cds with her. Consoles are not allowed in order for them to enjoy the whole Oman trip experience. I am looking forward to see smiling faces and I can’t wait to hear the stories of her adventures in Musandam.
