Black Saturday 2015

I am still clearing up my mess from my recent trip and just finished unpacking. I haven’t actually put much effort on this year’s Holy Week which my family and I observe. I feel awful not being able to offer more sacrifices when I could and should but I hope, God can hear my prayers.

I am trying my level best to just keep off from the online scene at least until Easter Sunday, tomorrow. This time is intended for deep reflections and offering sacrifices which I hope I am not yet late.

Easter 2011

I think of the garden after the rain;

And hope to my heart comes singing,

At morn the cherry-blooms will be white,

And the Easter bells be ringing!

Happy Easter to all!

Youth for Christ – Camp Fearless

This is the first time my daughter is joining the Youth for Christ group. This is in coordination with the Couples For Christ chapter of St. Mary’s Church here in Dubai. They have a retreat called “Camp Fearless” where the kids will be away from their parents for a night to engage in spiritual growth.

My husband and I dropped her at 6:45 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Church for a 2-day/1-night retreat hosted by the Youth for Christ. I can sense my daughter’s apprehension because she’s not as extrovert as we want her to be. She must have gotten it from me because I am a loner. Although I have my regrets but I find peace and calm when I’m away from the public eye. So, it is for this reason why I told my husband to enlist her to the YFC group. For one, meeting people is actually great – new personalities to deal with, new friends to make and jumping out of the comfort zone. One great factor for making her do this retreat is to be closer to God. I want her faith’s foundation to be solid. I want her to be spiritually enriched by this experience. I know it will do her good – personally and spiritually.

It’s been 1 1/2 hours since we dropped her and I am already missing her.  However, I know she will be in good hands and I do pray and hope that when she comes home tomorrow, she’ll have nice stories to share about her new-found friends and a richer spiritual life.
