Who said that expressing one’s love must be costly? And who also said that you have to buy fancy gifts just to make that special someone in your life happy and to show how much you love her? Well, not in my opinion. Valentine’s Day need not be celebrated in flamboyant style just to express how much you love the person. You can certainly give her something you can afford and will not break the bank because it’s the thought that counts.

If you are pressed for time now since it’s just few hours to go before Valentine’s Day, you may consider these affordable gift ideas for your special love that are less than $50.

Cats As Pets

Are you a feline lover? Are you planning to buy or adopt one? Well, whatever your case may be, having a pet cat is a good thing.

There are many reasons why some people prefer cats over dogs.  Here are the common reasons why cats rule for some people.

  • They are independent and can take care of themselves.
  • They love grooming themselves so even if you don’t give them a bath, they do the preening and cleaning all by themselves.
  • They are curious bunch of felines. Maybe that’s why the adage goes as “curiosity killed the cat.” Well, they tend to poke their noses on bags, cartons, car hoods, up the trees, on the roof,  gutters and even the top of a high wall or post. They go everywhere.
  • Their food is cheaper than dog food so keeping a cat will be less costly.

So, if you’re okay with all of the above reasons why having a cat as a pet is the best for you; go ahead and enjoy the company of your new feline friend for years to come.

Are You Spoiling Your Pets?

Right now I’ll have to say, “Guilty as charged!” I am one of those pet owners who lavish their furry babies with so much love, affection, toys, treats and anything a furry baby can possibly have and need.

My Millie epitomizes the meaning of a spoiled dog. She acts and behaves like a dog but with a certain touch of divaness. She loves sleeping with us on our bed. She has various pet bowls for certain kinds of food served to her, she doesn’t enjoy walking but loves car rides instead and she never, ever eat cheap dog food. I wonder why.

I adopted her when she was about 4 or 5 years old from a British family who treated her like a royal canine princess. I thought, I would be different but I ended up consenting and being one spoiler as well.

My daughter rolls her eyes whenever I baby talk my Millie. She would often tell me that I never did that baby-talk to her but now I was doing it to the dog. I just have it in me that my Millie is my youngest baby since I never had the chance to conceive again. Millie took that empty place reserved for another baby.

I buy her treats and clothes on all our travels and she loves the attention given to her without being snarky and all. I just adore my pooch. I don’t think I will stop spoiling her. As long as she knows where to do her business, she’s all good! I can spoil her the whole day.

Are you like me who spoil her dog rotten?

Millie Misses Us

Each time we go on vacation, Millie has to be left to a relative who will watch, feed and take care of her while we are away. I do feel guilty leaving her behind but we cannot take her to our long trips abroad because it is just not practical.

I think, Millie knows when we are going for a long vacation. Every time we pack our luggages, she will watch intently, gazing on the clothes we are putting in the luggages and she will sniff like crazy. I know and feel that she will be left again to the care of someone not her “mommy and daddy.”

I am sorry to do that but we need to go on our family trips too. If there are no regulations about taking pets to long haul flights without being subjected to quarantine policies, I will definitely take her with me in a heart beat.

So, when we came back from leave, our little “diva dog” was whimpering and sounded hoarse when she greeted us. I can feel the love and longing that she had bottled up for 10 days. She jumped and hugged our legs and even slept next to us, as if to make sure that we will not leave her again or at least, not soon.

Gift From The Heart

Love is in the air! Well, for sure, people out there are preparing for this “love” occasion to give something unique and special to the ones they love without burning a big hole in their pockets.

Gift-giving does not have to be expensive. There are many ways we can show our love and affection to our special someone without using up all your life’s savings for one gift on one occasion mostly commercialized for its associated merchandize.

I always believe that gift-giving has to be special and must come from the heart. I don’t mind receiving handmade gift because it only shows that the person who gave it to me has put on a lot of thought, time, effort and affection to make the present. And that for me is the best gift ever!
